Usage & Care

110 g bar. Lasts 2 to 3 weeks with daily use.Lather in your hands or with a flannel on wet skin. Use on face or body. Store on a draining dish between uses. A bar left in standing water softens quickly and will not last two weeks. Works well in the evening.

Benefits and features

The herb blend is the point. Most cosmetic herbs: rosemary, thyme, sage, calendula are studied for their antioxidant content. Antioxidants on the skin do not reverse damage, but they help neutralise the daily oxidative stress that contributes to how skin ages.

Olive oil sits underneath as the conditioning base. Rich in squalene and vitamin E, it is one of the most skin-compatible plant oils available close enough to your own skin chemistry that it rarely triggers reactions, even on sensitive skin.

Castor oil makes the lather creamy rather than bubbly. It also brings ricinoleic acid, a fatty acid with documented anti-inflammatory effect on irritated skin.

The deep green colour comes from the herbs themselves, not a colorant. Read the ingredient list before buying. If a particular herb is on your skip list, this is not the soap for you.

How it's made

Four weeks.
Mostly waiting.

Cold-process soap is made the slow way. Plant oils react with a lye solution at low temperature, then cure for weeks. The result is mild because the chemistry has finished working before the bar leaves the rack, and the natural glycerin that mass-produced soap removes and resells separately stays in.

  1. Mix

Plant oils blended at low temperature. Lye solution stirred in. Botanical ingredients added at trace.

  2. Pour

Poured into wooden moulds. Covered with linen. Left to saponify overnight.

  3. Cut

Turned out, cut by hand into bars. Stamped with the PP mark. Stacked on cure racks.

  4. Wait

Four to six weeks of curing. Water evaporates. The bar hardens. Then it ships.

Questions we get

The seven we hear most.

Cold-process soap is made by saponifying plant oils slowly, over weeks. It keeps the natural glycerin that mass-produced soap removes and resells separately. The bar is more conditioning than detergent-based equivalents. The trade-off is that it is softer and dies faster if you don't store it on a draining dish.

Two to three weeks of daily use, in our customer feedback. Closer to two if you use it for hair and body. Closer to four if you store it on a draining dish and don't let it sit in water.

Honest answer: it depends. Cold-process soap is mild compared to detergent-based bars, but it is still a surfactant, meaning it removes oil from the skin. If you have active eczema or rosacea, ask a dermatologist before switching. If you have generally sensitive but healthy skin, most of our customers report it being better than the supermarket version.

Eight ingredients: coconut oil, olive oil, carrot juice, castor oil, sunflower oil, almond oil, shea butter, ginger. The full breakdown is above, and the proper INCI list is printed on the bar itself.

This bar is plant-based. Our Herbalux Hand Cream contains beeswax, that one is not vegan, and we say so on its page. Every other product on the site is plant-based.

Faint. Real ginger essential oil at the concentration we use is warm and quiet, not loud. If you have used a strongly scented "ginger" soap from a mainstream brand, this is the opposite of that.

NL: 1 to 3 business days. EU: 3 to 7 business days. We don't air-freight to keep the carbon footprint sensible, which adds a day or two compared to fast-fashion brands. Free shipping in NL above €35, EU above €65.
